Developing fluency with Wixie
Digital tools make it easy to capture student voice. Use these project ideas and student samples to inspire technology integration that builds and evaluates student fluency.
These samples were created by students and classrooms using Wixie on Chromebooks, iPads, PCs or Macs.
Record Fluency
Wixie include templates that ask students to record a leveled passage. Teachers can assign passages over the school year to capture and evaluate fluency growth.
Assign Templates From the Curriculum Libraries
Adapt Repetitive Stories
Books with repeating patterns make it easy for emerging readers to "read" a story without being able to decode all of the words. They also help students build fluency as they read the same words and phrases over and over. Read your favorite pattern story, identify the pattern, and ask students create their own versions.
Sight Word Practice
Students write and read stories that include sight words. This project began with a template that included sentence starters for I go and I see.
