Favorite Relative
Have students write a simple story about a family member or a thank you to a community member. Have them record their voice and share on Mother's Day, Father's Day, or even Valentine's Day.
Trading Cards
Students research a person from history, or a character in a book they are reading, and summarize their findings in the form of a trading card. Turn it into a card game, by assigning points and powers and developing rules for playing cards against each other.

To help students better understand the perspectives of those in different times and cultures, have them develop newsletters that recall and retell historic events.
